Singapore
Little seasonal weather, sharp seasonal crowds — skip December, June and race week.
When to visit Singapore
Singapore is calmest in May and busiest in December. For the best balance of decent weather and smaller crowds, aim for April.
Singapore sits one degree from the equator, so the weather barely has seasons: every month brings roughly 31 °C, high humidity and a thunderstorm in the afternoon. What does vary is rainfall — the northeast monsoon makes November through January the wettest stretch — and, far more sharply, the crowd.
That crowd is driven by holidays and events rather than by climate. December and the June school break fill the family attractions; Chinese New Year moves the whole city; and the Formula 1 night race in September is the single largest hotel-price spike of the year, with the street circuit closing roads around Marina Bay for the best part of a week.
The soft months are March to May and late October into November. Same weather, noticeably lower prices, and the queues at Gardens by the Bay, the Night Safari and the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark are a fraction of what they are in December.

Local timing tips
- Afternoon storms are near-daily and short. Put the indoor half of your day — museums, hawker centres, the malls — in the 3pm to 5pm window and you will barely notice them.
- The Gardens by the Bay light show and the Marina Bay Sands observation deck are far calmer at the later evening slot than the first one.
- Hawker centres, not restaurants, are the point of eating here. Maxwell, Tiong Bahru and Old Airport Road are worth the detour and cost a fraction of Marina Bay.
- Check the PSI air-quality reading between July and September; regional haze can arrive within a day and makes outdoor plans pointless.
