Córdoba
May is the famous month and the hardest one; winter and late autumn show the Mezquita at its best.
When to visit Córdoba
Córdoba is calmest in January and busiest in May. For the best balance of decent weather and smaller crowds, aim for July.
Córdoba is mostly visited on day trips by high-speed train from Seville and Madrid, and that shapes the day as much as the year: the Mezquita and the Jewish quarter fill between about 11:00 and 16:00 and empty again in the evening. Staying one night changes the experience completely.
May is the peak of the year and the reason many people come. The Crosses of May, the Festival de los Patios, when private courtyards full of flowers open to visitors, and the Feria follow one another through the month. It is beautiful and crowded, with queues at the most famous patios and hotel prices at their highest.
Summer is the opposite. July and August are among the hottest in Spain, often near 40°C in the afternoon, and the city is at its quietest. The most comfortable months for a calm visit are late October, November and the winter from January to March.
