When to visit Dubai
Dubai is calmest in July and busiest in December. For the best balance of decent weather and smaller crowds, aim for August.
Dubai has the most predictable season of any destination on this list. From November to March it is warm, dry and close to perfect — 24 to 30 °C, low humidity, cool evenings — and it is full. December and February are the fullest and most expensive weeks of the year, with the Christmas–New Year fortnight the sharpest spike of all.
From May the heat becomes a genuine constraint. June, July and August run at around 40 °C with Gulf humidity on top, and the city retreats into air conditioning. That is the low season, and the discounts are dramatic: five-star rooms at half their winter rate, summer promotions across the malls, and no queue for anything.
The clever windows sit either side. The second half of September still carries summer pricing while the weather begins to break, and October is genuinely usable — hot in the afternoon, fine at breakfast and after dark — before November rates arrive. Ramadan, which shifts about eleven days earlier each year, changes the rhythm of the day rather than closing the city: daytime dining is restricted, and the evenings are extraordinary.

Local timing tips
- The Metro is cheap, clean and covers the Marina, Downtown and the creek — a Nol card costs less than a single taxi ride.
- Burj Khalifa tickets are priced by time slot: the hour around sunset costs the most, and the late-evening slots are both cheaper and calmer.
- From April onward, desert camps are dawn or dusk activities. A midday dune trip in summer is not a bargain, it is a mistake.
- The abra crossing on Dubai Creek costs one dirham and is the single best-value thing in the city, in any month of the year.
